Project Ethics Final Review

Ethics Rubric

The Ethics Rubric — What Reviewers Will Read

This is the same rubric mentors and reviewers use. Read it before writing your final ethics section.

DimensionMarksWhat It Requires
Identification0–1Name at least two specific ethical concerns that apply to your agent. Generic statements ('AI can be biased') do not count. Specifics do ('our agent trained on English data may fail for non-native speakers').
Analysis0–2Explain why each concern matters in your specific context. Consider the actual users, not hypothetical ones.
Design Response0–1For each concern — describe a specific design decision you made to address it. 'We thought about it' is not a design response. 'We added a human review step before any message is sent to a patient' is.
Honest Limitations0–1Acknowledge what you could not fix within the time and scope — and what you would address next if you had more time.
Phase 3 Complete

Phase 3 Complete — You Built Something Real

Slide 1

Four weeks ago you had an idea. Now you have a working prototype with documentation and ethics review.

A working prototype — demonstrated in a recorded video
A project README covering problem, mechanism, data, limitations
An ethics review with identified concerns, design responses, and honest limits
Five documented edge case tests showing how the agent handles unexpected inputs
Key Insight
You do not need a perfect agent. You need an honest one — one whose limitations are named, whose design decisions are justified, and whose outputs are demonstrably real.
Slide 2
✏️ Student Reflection
Write your final ethics review using the four dimensions: Identification, Analysis, Design Response, and Honest Limitations. For each dimension, write 2–3 sentences. Add it to your README before final submission.
