Recommendation
If you are completely new to automation, start with Make — the interface is more forgiving. If your project involves AI reasoning or multi-step logic, n8n gives you more control.

Your First Trigger — Step by Step
By the end of this session, you must have one working trigger connected to at least one action. Here is the minimum viable workflow for a student project:

Create a free account on Make.com or n8n.io

Create a new scenario/workflow

Add a trigger — a Webhook, a Schedule, or a Google Sheets 'New Row' trigger

Add one action — send an email, write to a Google Sheet, or post a Slack message

Run the trigger manually and verify the action fires

Screenshot the workflow canvas and paste in your project log
